Workshop Techniques

Presented below are the techniques used at the CMiD workshop on Thursday. Included is our reflection on each technique.

Actors Map

In an initial phase of this project the technique gives a clear overview of the actors involved and how decisions directly as well as indirectly influence other actors. In a later phase it may be useful when using the overview to indicate which cross media interactions influences specific relations. Having such an overview, for example, allows one actors to influence multiple desired actors in one effort instead of multiple initiatives.

Task Analysis Grid

This technique may be useful to describe a phase in the user-experience that may be more complex than appears on the surface. This technique can then be used to evaluate and improve that phase of the experience.

Touchpoint Matrix

Touchpoints allows the maker to map an otherwise complex process in a clear overview. It also visually displays what transitions in the user experience should be considered by the designer of the user experience.

Motivation matrix

This matrix is very useful to see how people can interact in relation to a certain product/service. This enables the viewer to get an overview of the situation. The motivation matrix can come handy in the idea development.

Blue print

This tool allows the final user to perceive what is happening backstage and permits the designer to look back at the concrete actions of the user. The Blue Print can be very interesting to use in the idea development phase as well as in the conceptualization phase.

Service image

The image makes a simple visualization of the project as to explain it concretely to the interested parties. It could be used during the conceptualization phase (also during testing).
